The range distribution of d-rays produced by heavy nuclei of
energy 5 GeV/n in Fuji ET-7B nuclear emulsion has been
investigated using data from an exposure to primary cosmic rays in a balloon-borne
plastic-emulsion chamber. The estimated d-ray densities per 100
mm for projectiles of charges Z = 14, 20 and 26 are in accord
with the low-range simulation results of Ichimura et al.
